Economy
There is a sharp contrast between the eastern affluent commuter zone,
which is bound into Glasgow's economy, and the de-industrializing
Barrhead area. The agricultural lands in the south are of marginal
capability.

There are four Sites of Special Scientific Interest.
Administrative History
Prior to 1975, the area was part of the county of Renfrewshire.
